Soor Sarovar Bird Sanctuary, Agra, India

Keetham Lake is about 20 km from Agra, located within the Soor Sarovar Bird Sanctuary. Keetham declared as National Bird Sanctuary in March 27 1991 by U.P Forest Department India.

The entire lake is formed in a catchment area of 7.13 km2. Keetham lake is pentagonal in shape. There are artificially created islands, which use as shelter and breeding grounds of the Migratory as well as Resident birds.





More than 206 species of migratory and resident birds are known to have their resting habitats at Soor Sarovar. Keetham lake plays as a host and welcome a wide range of avian fauna during winter season.




The whole Sanctuary lies in a sprawling 15-acre green expanse protect not only several bird species but also mammals like wild boar, blue bull, spotted dear, hyena, fox, civet cat, jungle cat etc.






A wide variety of Herpetofauna also reside in this sanctuary, rock python, cobra, rat snake, turtles, monitor lizard are few major examples.
