Indian dhabhas

For me Delhi to Agra use to be the best journey (in past because yamuna expressway takes away all the fun), the stretched chain of different Dhabas with their unique names and cuisine is just what makes my ride memorable. The Road has a definite girth of adventure to it. Onces use to be the dusty single road now become a highway and soon going to convert into 6 lane road. As much as the route is ancient, so as the glittering history of Dhabas.

The road (NH2) is still very much alive even after yamuna expressway takes all the attention, it is alive with the trucks and dhabas. Dotted at regular intervals are modern day versions of the caravanserais, Indian Motel or popularly known as “Dhabas” are something totally unique and Indian thing. Born as a pit stop for ferrying goods, for truck drivers or long drive busses, are these days provide all the necessary items. They'll give you a parking space, place to sit and almost homemade food experience. Old Dhabas are changes and comprises of 3 walls, charpoys are replaced by chairs, and menu is increased as well with edition of sandwich and burgers.

People still prefer the old wholesome earthy flavors, like Saag and Roti, Daal with Jeera Rice etc. a dash of dairy products is still there but cold drinks and coffees become more popular with time. The Tawa and Tandori menu and tea are few signature dishes of all the dhabas. Now a days restaurants started to theme their place as dhaba using bright lights and similar kind of cutleries, indicates that Indians are still enrooted deeply with old culture and lifestyle.

I wish the title of my post was true! Its been a month or two since I'm not getting any time for my blog or for my self. I expected to November as 'come back' month but seem that's just not happening.

The year is almost over and my plans are not working well. Fitness classes skipped, healthy meal avoided (No time to cook), room needs a deep cleaning and my closet is also a mess again. Massive mess and disorder. At this point I'm having difficulties in planning what should I eat or wear for work, need a break in chaos.

So, what's the plan to get things back to normal? I'm going to complete my PhD work by this end of the month (finger crossed). If I don't, my entire 1st week of December will lag on like this one has, and I can't let that happen, because I will go nuts. I definitely have to learn to divide everything up for better working situation.

Sorry for the boring entry, post will be back to normal next week, when I feel some relief from the sudden pressure and lack of consistency going on in my life right now.

I think I'm just one of those "needs to have a schedule" people.

Suggest me some management tips

Hope you all have a nice winter ahead!!

PS: We have two new family members meet, Tittle (Rescued cockatiel) and her charming partner 'Ben or Joey (Name ye to decide)'

Warm Winters

Winter is the time to get cosy, but it is also a time to learn new things, new challenges... come and celebrate winters in my style :)

#1 – Pump up your mood
In the stillness of winter, meditate to rediscover the power of inner stillness, take out the time to meditate for a few minutes and observe the change in how you feel. Daily morning meditation can keep you happy all day. It also might be a good idea to indulge yourself in creative activities frequently, like redecorating your house or outdoor picnics.

Warm up your self with some herbal tea or coffee and let the season sprinkle joy upon you!

# 2 – Ward off winter sickness
As the temperature lowers day by day, the chances of catching a cold or having a sore throat increases. It is a good idea to consult a doctor for medication. However, regular practice of meditation will help you hasten your healing process. Try to do yoga at least 3 days in a week, it acts as an immunity booster and helps you keep away winter sickness. On days you are feeling unwell, eat vitamin-rich food like fresh fruits and green vegetables, which will help boost immunity.

#3 – Make your own junk food day calendar
In winter, it is natural to gorge on your favourite foods, which is most of the time calorie dense. Keeping a check on the kind of food you eat might be important in order to keep yourself healthy and in shape.

What might also work for you is having your own “favourite food day calendar”. This calendar can include a junk food day every week or fortnight. Eating junk food only on that day will ensure you consume healthy food on the other days. Do not forget to work out an extra hour on the junk food day to burn the extra calories.

#4 - Take challenges
Make this winter your workout plan A, weigh your self and target 5-10 kilos loss by the winter ends. Its not about being lean, but about being healthy! Plan Jogs or gymming for the season and take it as a challenge.

This is my Diwali to Diwali (2012/13) Challenge, hope it helps to motivate.. :)
